…Working with Dawn was an absolute pleasure, and the results speak for themselves. I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a designer who is talented, trustworthy, and truly invested in creating beautiful, meaningful spaces.”
founder and interior design consultant at Blue Heron Interior Designs in Holland, Michigan. For more than twenty years, I’ve helped homeowners make thoughtful decisions about furniture, home furnishings, custom window treatments, space planning, and residential design.
My background began in furniture and home furnishings, where I learned that good design is about much more than choosing beautiful things. It’s understanding how furniture is made, how a room should function, how fabrics and materials will perform, and how all of those decisions work together.

It’s easy to buy a sofa you love, then a rug you love, then a chair you love—and realize they don’t quite work together. I prefer to step back and look at the whole room first. We consider scale, measurements, traffic flow, color, function, and the pieces you already own, then create a plan we can carry out all at once or in phases.
02
You don’t need to sort through hundreds of fabrics, finishes, or furniture options. That’s part of my job. I listen to what you like, consider what will work best for your home and lifestyle, and narrow the possibilities down to a few strong choices.
You still make the decisions. You just don’t have to make them alone.

Quality matters, but that doesn’t mean choosing the most expensive option. I want you to understand what you’re buying—how a piece of furniture is constructed, how a fabric will perform, or why one material may be a better fit for your home than another.
My goal is to help you get the best quality for the money you’re comfortable spending.

A beautiful home should still be a home you can live in. Kids, grandkids, pets, entertaining, spills, and busy weekends all matter when we’re making design decisions.
That’s why measurements, floor plans, seating needs, durability, and traffic flow are just as important as color and style. As I like to say, the math never lies.
One project that has always stayed with me began with a homeowner who simply wasn’t happy with her house anymore. She was considering selling, but before making that decision, we looked at what could be changed.
We didn’t need to start over. With new paint, wallpaper, custom window treatments, and a handful of thoughtful updates, the rooms began to feel connected again. By the end of the project, she had fallen back in love with her home. That’s what good interior design can do. It doesn’t have to mean replacing everything or creating a picture-perfect room. Sometimes it’s about seeing what you already have differently, making the right changes, and creating a home that feels like you again.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Tell me what isn’t working, what you’d like to change, what you want to keep, and how you want your home to feel. From there, we can start putting together a thoughtful plan—one that fits your home, your lifestyle, and your budget.
